Kellie Finlayson has shared what it’s really like to live knowing you have a terminal illness in an emotional post.
Taking to Instagram, the wife of AFL star Jeremy Finlayson – who was diagnosed in 2021 with bowel cancer – shared a picture of herself in tears.
“For those wondering if I ever cry … yes I do. Not often and usually due to the collateral that comes with a terminal diagnosis,” the caption on the picture read.

“But yes, I am human, some days do get the best of me and I’m a prisoner to my own thoughts,” the 28-year-old shared.
“While I share a lot, it’s probably just 5 per cent of my whole life on here. There is so much happening behind the scenes, I take 10 steps forward one day and 12 steps back the next.
“I’m positive and grateful to be alive, but some days remind me that this is so far from the life I’d created in my mind as a teenager.

“So once we see not even quite a millimetre of growth in a scan over a couple of months, we know that that means it’s growing and that means we have to act on it.”
She shared that though chemotherapy works well for her, it can only prevent the cancer spreading for her as it is at stage four and a “full cure is unlikely”.
Finlayson was first diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer in 2021 when she was 25, three months after giving birth to her daughter, Sophia, whom she shares with the Port Adelaide star.
